REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Erick Thohir officially said goodbye to the extended family of the Ministry of BUMN. Erick, who was given a new mandate as Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), could not restrain himself when he had to part with the people of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises.
With all humility and full of sobs, Erick offered an apology to all employees in the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises during his six years as Minister of State-Owned Enterprises. He hoped that the employees of the Ministry of state-owned enterprises would forgive his mistakes.
“I apologize. Apologies. If my words are wrong. If my attitude is wrong. It's all for our progress. For our nation. Thank you,” Erick said while crying during his farewell event as Minister of State Owned Enterprises in Menara Danareksa, Central Jakarta, Friday (19/9/2025).
Erick said that the Ministry of SOEs is a house built together with full of happiness. Erick appreciated the hard work of all employees of the Ministry of BUMN who worked day and night, even as the Covid-19 pandemic struck to serve the public and realize transformation in state-owned enterprises.
“When all the offices are deserted because of the fear of covid. You fighters are coming to this office. You guys go downstairs. The humanity that's built is amazing,” Erick said.
He advised that all the people of the Ministry of state-owned enterprises keep themselves as hard workers while still putting empathy forward. Erick hopes that the people of the Ministry of state-owned enterprises will fully support the sustainability of SOEs under the leadership of Dony Oskaria, who is appointed acting Minister of SOE.
“Mr President now encourages with the birth of Danantara, it becomes an investment force for our future. You guys have to support. I tip. We're a big family,” Erick said.
