Visit Silima Lima waterfall in Batang Toru forest

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SOUTH TAPANULI — Silima Lima waterfall became one of natural fascination in Batang Toru forest, North Sumatra. Geographically, this waterfall is located in Simaninggir Village, Marancar District, South Tapanuli Regency. 

We can find the waterfall, which an altitude estimated at more than 80 meters. As generally the Batang Toru area, this waterfall is above the height of about 800 meters above sea level (asl).

People have to ride for 1,5 hours from Padang Sidempuan to reach Silima Lima waterfall. Along the journey, we can see beautiful views, such as rice fields and green nature views. 

The path to the waterfall has been made from a cement cast. Each step is only about 10-20 centimeters high. This height allows visitors to step in leisurely. To provide security and comfort there is a metal barrier on one side that can be a support for walking or security for visitors so as not to fall into the abyss. 

Along the way to Silima Lima waterfall, visitors can see panoramic view of plant vegetation that is dominated by green. Most plant vegetation around the site are tall trees, which height can reach up to five meters.

We do not feel tired anymore once when reached near the bottom of waterfall. Silima Lima waterfall is decorated by piles of large rocks. At one point, people could enjoy the cold and clear water there.

Therefore, we could say Silima Lima waterfall is one of the natural fascination that hidden in Batang Toru forest. According to Darma Bakti Siregar, traditional figure from Marancar said actually many waterfalls in Batang Toru forest. 

However, Silima Lima is a waterfall that has been managed by local government currently. People who live around the area also protect the forest.

Visitors at Silima Lima waterfall are free of charge. They only need to pay parking ticket, which is managed by local youth. If we visit Silima Lima waterfall, do not forget to take a selfie at a bridge that provided by management. The bridge has wooden footprints and also barrier that iron-made that provide for safety reason.
