Plastic factory on Malang catches fires

Earlier, the plastic processing factory had caught fire several times.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MALANG -- PT Tri Surya, a plastic processing factory, on Ketindan Street, Malang, East Java Province, caught fire for the fourth time on Monday (June 11). According to a witness, Ketindan resident Dimas stated that the fire broke out at around 1 a.m. local time.

"The fire went on for around 30 minutes, and two fire trucks belonging to Malang District arrived at the location. However, the fire was growing and spreading everywhere when I was in the prayer room before having sahoor," he explained.

Until 2:33 a.m. local time, firefighters, along with the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency, Search and Rescue Team, and the local residents, continue to extinguish the fire while waiting for firefighters from the cities of Malang and Batu.

In fact, the police and Indonesian armed forces continue to arrive to help extinguish the fire and secure the location.

Another witness, Dani revealed that his wife's sister informed him of the fire arising from one of the factory warehouses that was caused by a short circuit due to a spark. However, the exact cause of the fire is yet unknown.

Meanwhile, Police Commissioner of Lawang Police Gaguk Sulistyo Budi noted that there were no casualties or injuries in the fire incident. "We cannot estimate the losses, as we are still focused on extinguishing the fire," he conveyed.

Earlier, the plastic processing factory had caught fire several times. The fire incident had last occurred on February 8, 2017.
