Jokowi Asks Muhammadiyah's Help to Fight Mafia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Chairman of Muhammadiyah Din Syamsuddin said that the President Jokowi asked his institution to help the government to fight the mafia, both mafia oil and gas, fish, drugs until rice.

It was revealed by Din after meeting President Jokowi at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday, June 16.

"We stated that before the president and the Indonesian government were declared want to fight mafia, Muhammadiyah alhamdulillah have already preceded it, we also fight by Muhammadiyah’s way," he said, accompanied by other officials of PP (central executive) Muhammadiyah.

At first, Din said, Jokowi revealed the existence of mafia who made a profit on behind the suffering of people. Then, Jokowi stated that the government was committed to eradicate the mafia while asking Muhammadiyah to encourage people to get involved to combat these crimes.

Din added, for Muhammadiyah, the existence of mafia has been destructive to the life in the country. Therefore, Muhammadiyah feel partly responsible for combating them.

"Through this opportunity, o the mafia, do not playing around because it will be a people's movement, the movement of civil society with government. As you all that has ruined the lives of the people, which has prevented the prosperity," said Din.
